VISION STATEMENT FOR SEABROOK CHURCH

Service to our neighbors will be a deeply ingrained part of our culture at Seabrook. The reason that we serve is, simply, that the love of Jesus Christ compels us to serve.  We will present Jesus as our model and motivation for service.

Over the next five years, the Seabrook Church will develop a reputation in the Lanham-Seabrook area and beyond as a church that is active in addressing needs and countering social ills within the community. There are four main avenues through which we will realize this part of our vision.

Culture of Service: We will through strategic planning teach, inspire and equip our members to be actively involved in service to one another and our neighbors.  Our aim is to have at least 75% of our congregation active in an identifiable service or ministry.

Accessibility and Resourcefulness: We will become a resource center where our neighbors can come and receive information, counseling, or guidance that will help meet prevalent needs in the community. We will also be a resource for helping our neighbors and members to be better equipped to serve in their community.

Visibility and Involvement: We will increasingly take part in community events that are not in conflict with our values. We will also aggressively advertise to the community programs/events at our church that are beneficial for the community as well as our church family.

Partnership: We will collaborate with community organizations in efforts that seek to make a positive impact.  We will also work with community residents to bring about beneficial changes in our community.

As we constantly seek the wellbeing of our neighbors, we will project a true image of Jesus as One who cares about people. We will invite our neighbors to experience a relationship with Him who cares.

Our primary mode of leading people to Jesus will be through relationship-building.  The focus of the church leadership will be to consistently inspire and teach our members how to form or strengthen relationships with people in their sphere of influence and introduce them to Christ. Our emphasis in presenting Jesus to our neighbors will be to show how following Him can help us become more helpful citizens, have healthier relationships, and live healthier lives physically, financially, and spiritually.  We will be intentional in teaching and motivating all who come into relationship with Christ to go and lead others to Him just as they were led.

Our vision is based on the belief that Jesus can transform our community and that He will use us in His efforts to do so.
